"Between December 1939 and August 1941, about 50,000 to 60,000 Germans --children and adults-- were secretly killed by lethal injections or in gassing installations designed to look like shower stalls... The victims were taken from the medical institution and put to death..."
- Milton Meltzer
T4 was a German government Euthanasia program established in 1939 that was head quartered at Tiergartenstrasse 4, Berlin. Although now Euthanasia has the meaning of painlessly killing a patient to put them out of their suffering, this was not the case in the T4 program. Guided by the doctrine of racial "purity", any patient who was mentally ill or disabled, the Nazis killed these patients with lethal injections and gas chambers. In their eyes anyone unable to produce inferior offspring needed to be removed.
