"Franz, human beings in this world are like mushrooms... There are poisonous mushrooms
and there are bad people. Do you know who these bad men are?",
"Of course... They are the Jews!"
- The Poisonous Mushroom
Adults were not the only people affected during the Holocaust. Many children were exposed a great amount of Anti-Semitism at school and in the public. Much of this was from other students influenced by their friends and family, because this behavior was greatly encouraged by most adults and some even wrote books to promote Anti-Semitism. Many teachers in German schools were also supporters of Hitler, and made life very hard for Jewish students, and hindering many children's' ability to learn, taking away their right to a proper education.
The Poisonous Mushroom; a children's book, which teaches hatred of Jews. |
"A devil goes through the land, The Jew he is, known to us all As murderer of the peoples and polluter of the races, The terror of children in every country! He wants to ruin the youth. He wants all peoples to die. Have nothing to do with a Jew Then you'll be happy and gay!" - The Poisonous Mushroom |
